Queen positions (row, column): R1C4, R2C6, R3C1, R4C7, R5C2, R6C8, R7C3, R8C5.

How to Solve Today’s Queens

  1. Place the queen in the smallest region first; only one of its squares survives the row and column rules.
  2. Mark every square touching that queen (including diagonals) as blocked.
  3. Find the two regions that are confined to the same two rows and reserve those rows for them.
  4. Fill the remaining rows top to bottom: each has a single legal square left.
